by Sarah Kane

“Death is my lover and he wants to move in.”

A new production in development of CRAVE by Sarah Kane, directed by Jen Heyes with lighting and digital design by Nigel Edwards and Sound design by Stephen Hull

CRAVE was first performed in 1998 by the theatre company Paines Plough, with which Kane was writer-in-residence for the year, at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. Nigel worked with Sarah on this world premiere.

“In a metaphoric prison incarcerated by isolation, mental torment and pain; four people interrogate the meaning of love in all its deepest, darkest emotional onslaughts and cruel imaginings. For this production I intend to distill Kane’s personal truth and beautiful poetic lyricism through distinct northern voices”
Jen Heyes

Congratulations to the team for wrestling so successfully with this dark and difficult piece. After only two weeks you have made huge progress in doing justice to the wonderful poetry, humour and insight of Sarah Kane, and I for one cannot wait for the finished article
