Hello, I’m Jen Heyes – a director, writer, producer, and dramaturg born in Lancashire and now based on the Wirral. I’m recognised for my innovative, hybrid approach — exploring the shared language of theatre and film to create immersive, cinematic experiences that merge projection, sound, movement, and live performance, blurring the line between stage and reality.

I make work through CutToTheChase Productions and via commissions with organisations that include; Culture Liverpool, RLPO, Opera North, SideLong Glance Theatre, London Artists Projects, and Tate — creating experiences that are layered, alive, and deeply human. I also develop and direct plays, collaborating with both emerging playwrights and established professional voices to bring bold new stories to life on stage and screen. I always strive to include original, bespoke music and songs within the work I make, adding another dimension to the storytelling. I love bringing together visionary artists and communities, building worlds that reflect the compelling complexity of our lives.
